A Life-Changing Year: 2019 Year in Review

Reading Time: 4 minutes

It’s hard to believe that this year is almost over! A whole decade has gone by! How time flies!

2019 has been quite a year! A life-changing year. So I wanted to do a 2019 Year in Review post to reflect back on the events that made it so.

From becoming a first a time mom, quitting my job, going back to YouTube, and now blogging! It has been eventful!

I believe it is a good practice to take time at the end of the year to reflect on the events that took place. From the good, the lessons, and ultimately the events that changed your life for the better…or worse!

Here is my 2019 Year in Review:

January: Impatiently awaiting their arrival

I began the year pregnant with swollen feet! I was tired of being pregnant and just ready to meet my munchkins! The year did not start for me until March 6th when they were born. Everything was on hold just waiting for their arrival!

March: Delivery

On March 6th at 5:27 & 5:28 pm, my babies joined this world! When I went to the hospital on March 4th, I had a plan of how I wanted things to go but as with anything in life, it didn’t go as planned!

I will share more on this in another blog post.

I ended up having an emergency c-section as opposed to the vaginal delivery I was hoping for! All that matters is that they came out healthy and strong!

March to June: Motherhood

I was lucky enough to get 4-months paid maternity leave from my employer so from March till June, I spent the time acclimating myself to this new role of a mother–a single mother.

Most of the time was spent trying to keep the boys alive, but we managed. My mom took time off in March so she can assist me which was so beneficial and I am so grateful to her because I don’t think I could have made it without her!

This was such a unique time for me. I was so amazed by my babies and with life in general. Seeing a human grow from a seed to a tangible live person is just so incredible!

To think that they have a whole life ahead of them that they get to create something amazing and I get to be apart of that.

I get a front seat in the lives of these tiny humans. A chance to mold them and train them in a certain direction. It’s such an honor I take very seriously.

July to October: Return to Work & YouTube

Another great milestone I am celebrating this year is being back on YouTube and gaining 700 subscribers! I know that number is small but I am proud of it!

If you haven’t subscribed to my channel, you may do so here.

I had always wanted to do YouTube. I actually started my channel last year with the intention of focusing on fitness and personal growth but then had to stop when I became pregnant. Now I focus more on my motherhood journey! I do plan on creating another channel focused more on fitness and personal growth next year!

When I went back to YouTube, I was apprehensive that I wouldn’t get any views or subscribers but I am so happy at the progress I have made! Truth be told, I haven’t been as consistent as I planned to be but that is one of my goals for next year!

During the time I went back to YouTube, I also returned to work.

Don’t forget to subscribe to my newsletter to stay up to date on all the upcoming posts.

Transitioning back to work was difficult for me. I struggled to make it to work on time because I was the only one getting my boys ready in the morning to be dropped off at my parent’s house. I was also exclusively breastfeeding and needed more time during break and lunch to pump.

My work was really accommodating but I couldn’t continue the commute, being away from my boys, the stress and so forth so I chose to leave.

October to December: Work from Home & Blogging

During October, I decided to finally leave my job and work from home. I found a good company that provided the opportunity to work from and that made things much easier! No longer did I have to worry about rushing to get ready and get the boys ready in the morning so we can head out!

All I have to do now is take a few steps and I’m at work! There is nothing like wearing pajamas to work! Haha!

Working from home also relieved me of the pressures of finding a daycare for the boys! I was really stressing about this because I knew it was going to be costly and from my tours of some of the locations, I wasn’t confident about utilizing one just yet! Now I don’t have to worry about that!

Connecting the dots…

And just like that, 12 months gone!

I have grown so much this year. This motherhood journey has brought out so much from me that I didn’t know I had and I am so excited about the woman I am becoming.

I spent most of this year awaiting two lives to begin, and now I am excited about my new life beginning.

How did your year look like? Let me know in the comments below!

Success! You're on the list.

  1. Great job Mama. My year was great, had my second baby and i started my blog this December. It was a year I started breaking out of my shell and trying new things. Looking forward to 2020

  2. It sounds like you had a busy year! I started blogging this year as well and now that I’ve gotten over the initial hump, I’m really enjoying it. YouTube isn’t something I’ve tried yet — maybe that’s up for 2020!
